You whippersnappers don’t know how good you have it these days, and we’re going to tell you why. Back in the day, before cell phones and YouTube, kids walked uphill both ways to school and didn’t have a lot to entertain themselves. For fun, they actually went outside and were known to play with sticks and rocks or use items that their parents were going to throw away, such as the caps to milk bottles.
As far back as 1927, in the great state of Hawaii, kids would play a game with used milk caps, which consisted of placing a stack face down on the ground and throwing a heavy “slammer” on your opponent’s caps. If any of them turned face up as a result of being hit by the slammer, you kept your opponent’s cap and the player that finished the game with the most caps was the winner.
Fast forward to the early 1990’s…still no cell phones or YouTube, but a company decided to commercialize the milk cap concept and released a product called POGs. Aside from the name change, the game now used brightly colored disks with artwork and designs rather than plain old milk caps, and quickly became a hit on the playgrounds of schools in the Western US and then spread globally to countries such as Australia and Sweden.
Eventually, teachers got tired of kids playing with their POGs. Aside from the distraction from their studies and fights breaking out over POG games, the teachers felt that the game was akin to gambling, and so POGs were banned from the playground.
Now that kids’ brains are being melted by cell phones and Cardi B videos in the classroom, we bet those teachers would give anything to go back to just dealing with POG games during recess.
It’s with that in mind, and a general feeling of nostalgia for one of our favorite games as kids, that we decided to revive this game in the form of MilkcapZ. Not only will you be whisked back to the days of taking your buddy’s caps with your mad POG skillz, but the colorful designs on our MilkcapZ NFT will bring back memories of a time when things were just better. Now you can have the best of both worlds: cell phones, YouTube, the excitement of crypto and NFT’s mixed with the movies, food, characters and POGs from your childhood. Here at MilkcapZ, we are bringing creative, fun, and original ideas and artwork to the ever growing NFT and crypto space. From buying and selling to collecting, trading, and even playing, look for MilkcapZ to make another comeback in 2022!
